Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
